About Us

Ian Cook, MD

Dr. Ian R. Cook, MD is a board-certified Emergency Medicine physician and Wound Care specialist with over 15 years of experience. He is a Fellow of the American Professional Wound Care Association (FAPWCA) and the Medical Director for “The Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine” in Palmdale. In addition, Dr. Cook practices at the outpatient USC Verdugo Hills Hospital Wound Care Clinic. He has a passion for wound care/hyperbaric medicine and is dedicated to providing individualized care to his patients. He believes that high-quality wound care and hyperbaric medicine located in the Santa Clarita Valley is essential for our community.

 

Dr. Cook graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a BS in Biology and spent one year teaching high school Chemistry prior to attending Medical School. He graduated from the Chicago Medical School/ Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in 2007 and then completed his residency training, in Emergency Medicine, at UCLA Kern Medical Center from 2007 to 2011.

Kieron Barkataki, DO

Dr. Kieron Barkataki, DO, is a board-certified emergency physician, urgent care physician, and wound care specialist with over 12 years of experience. He is currently aligned with USC Verdugo Hills Hospital, The Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine at Palmdale Regional Medical Center, Bakersfield Memorial Hospital – Dignity Health, and Kern Medical.

He completed his residency training in Emergency Medicine at Kern Medical and has a keen interest in wound care and taking care of patients. Prior to his residency training, he studied medicine at Touro University, Nevada and graduated from Western University College of Osteopathic Medicine.

 

Dr. Barkataki is a highly skilled and experienced physician who is dedicated to providing his patients with the highest quality of care. He is passionate about his work and takes the time to get to know each of his patients individually. He is known for his warm and compassionate bedside manner, and he is always willing to go the extra mile for his patients. 

 

Dr. Barkataki is a valuable member of the medical community along with Wound Care Advantage. He is committed to serving his patients and to making a difference in their lives.

Raffi Kartalian, MD

Dr. Kartalian graduated from Keck School of Medicine of USC in 2000, specializing in Emergency Medicine. After completing his Intern Year at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, California, Dr. Kartalian went on to complete his training in Emergency Medicine at Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield, California.

 

He has practiced at Bakersfield Heart Hospital since 2004, where he serves as the Chest Pain Center Director as well as the Emergency Department Medical Director. Additionally, Dr. Kartalian also practices at the following wound care centers:  Palmdale Regional Medical Center, USC Verdugo Hills Hospital and Casa Colina Hospital and Centers for Healthcare. He is also affiliated with UCI Placentia Linda hospital and previously affiliated with Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.

Troy Metzger, PA

Troy Metzger is an experienced Physician Assistant specializing in Emergency Medicine, with 17 years of clinical practice. He graduated from Alderson-Broaddus College Physician Assistant program in 2007. He is affiliated with Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital and Palmdale Regional Medical Center. 

As one of the newest members of the team, he is excited and dedicated to provide the highest quality care and contribute new and innovative ideas to SCV Wound Care & Hyperbarics.

Santa Clarita Valley Wound Care and Hyperbarics opened their doors in 2024 with the goal of providing hope and healing to the Santa Clarita Valley. We believe that by applying advanced technology and ground-breaking research, we can help the body facilitate the healing of non-healing wounds in as little as eight weeks.
